Baseball Opens With UCLA In NCAA Regionals

The Cowboys extended its streak of consecutive NCAA appearances to 19 yesterday, which is the third longest streak in the country behind Florida State and Miami.
The four-team regional is comprised of the No. 1 seed and host Wichita State, No. 2 OSU, No. 3 UCLA and No. 4 Oral Roberts.
UCLA is 30-29 on the season and finished fifth in the Pac-10. The Bruins last NCAA appearance was in 1997 when they defeated Oklahoma State twice in Stillwater to advance to the College World Series.
Oklahoma State played Oral Roberts (46-13) twice this season and came away with convincing wins in Oklahoma City (11-5) and Tulsa (12-6).
Last season the Pokes participated in the Midwest Regional in Wichita and defeated Georgia Tech and Arizona State to open the tournament before the two schools came back to beat OSU and eliminate them from the field.
Wichita State, 57-12 on the season, and Oklahoma State have not met since the 1996 season when the Shockers took the home and home series, 7-3 and 19-4. Last season Wichita State went 1-2 in regional play with a win over Southwest Missouri State before suffering consecutive losses to Arkansas and Arizona State to end the season.
