Rivers Named Freshman All-American

Marcellus Rivers, who had the second-highest number of receptions at Oklahoma State in 1998, has been a second-team freshman All-American by The Sporting News.
The publication announced its freshman All-American team Wednesday afternoon in conjunction with its regular All-American list.
Rivers, a redshirt freshman from Oklahoma City's Douglas High School, had 22 catches for 335 yards and four touchdowns for the Cowboys in 1998. He averaged 15.2 yards per reception and 30.5 yards per game.
Rivers' top game in 1998 was at Texas where he had three catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. He also had five catches for 47 yards and a touchdown against Kansas State and four catches for 57 yards and a touchdown against Oklahoma on Lewis Field.
