Puffinbarger's Grand Slam Gives Cowboys Run-Rule Victory
April 08, 2003 | Cowboy Baseball
Puffinbarger's first home run of the season capped off OSU's nine-run burst over the seventh and eighth innings. The slam followed five straight walks by San Francisco pitcher Sean Buller.
OSU (35-13, 13-8 Big 12) scored four times in the seventh inning, thanks to home runs from Billy Gasparino and Tony Lucca, who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Lucca had spearheaded OSU's four-run fourth inning with his 15th double of the season.
Oklahoma State will play Bedlam rival Oklahoma this weekend in a three-game series. The Cowboys and Sooners will meet at Driller Park in Tulsa on Friday at 7 p.m.; they will then play single games at Oklahoma City's Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
