POSSE Tailgating Championship Amended Due To Burn Ban
April 08, 2003 | Cowboy Football
Oklahoma State's fifth-annual POSSE Tailgating Championship will be held as scheduled. However, due to the current burn ban in the state of Oklahoma, charcoal grills will not be allowed on campus.
"Due to the extreme dry conditions across the state, and the type of charcoal grills we saw being used at last weekend's game, we have decided to not allow grills of any kind on the OSU Campus," said Don Pierce, director of environmental health and safety at OSU.
OSU officials expect a large turnout for the Tailgating Championship, and are concerned that with the recent lack of rain, certain charcoal grills might pose a hazard to the environment.
Safety officials will be monitoring all tailgating on campus.
