OSU struck for two more in the third off a two-run homer by Josh Holliday, his 13th of the year. Matthews added a solo homer to straight away center in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-6. The Pokes tied the game in the sixth when Jay McCullough, who reached on walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice and moved to third off a groundout, scored off a wild pitch from OU reliever Rocky Cherry.
Oklahoma quickly responded in the seventh with three unearned runs off of reliever Ryan Herrmann. Jeremy Vidales, Ryan Van Horn and Bobby Walters each collected RBIs in the inning.
OSU charged back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to one, 10-9. McCullough and Gautreaux each hit RBI doubles in the inning.
The Cowboys tried to mount another rally in the ninth but Trevor Leu lined out to right field with a man on first to end the game.
