Of the ten OSU selections, six were first team picks, including offensive lineman Kyle Eaton who has now been named to the elite squad three straight seasons.
Eaton is also one of three Big 12 players who were nominated to the squad with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Eaton, a junior from Rogers, Texas, has a 4.0 and is majoring in Management Information Systems at OSU. He has been a year-long starter for the Cowboys on the offensive line.
Other Oklahoma State players who were first team selections include Thomas Glapion, Chris Gray, Mark Milosevich, Dustin Vanderhoof and John Wohlgemuth. Vanderhoof appears on the team for a second straight season while the others are making their first appearance on the academic squad.
OSU players nominated and appearing on the second team Geoffrey Beaulieu, Chris Calcagni, Clay Coe and Clint Gillispie.
The only three players on the team with 4.0 grade point averages were OSU's Eaton, Brandon Wier of Kansas and Kliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and media relations offices, the football academic all-league squad consists of 91 combined first-team members with 65 on the second team. That's a total of 156 players honored for academic accomplishment.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.
