Jeremy Krismer Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

Both young standouts will be playing in the special "Bedlam Benefit" game to aid in the relief effort for Oklahoma tornado victims when the Cowboys and Sooners meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. (CDT) at Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City with a special assist from the Class AAA Oklahoma RedHawks of the Pacific Coast League.
Krismer shut down hard-hitting Texas on four hits over seven innings in a 13-1 victory over the nationally-ranked Longhorns at Stillwater. He struck out five, walked two, yielded just one earned run, and allowed only a double in the extra-base hit category as the Cowboys completed a three-game sweep and vaulted into sole possession of fourth place in Big 12 standings with a 16-8 conference mark. Krismer twirled his second complete game of the campaign and raised his record to 3-0 against Big 12 opponents (5-0 overall).
Whiteman went 8-for-12 (.667) in a sweep by OU against Iowa State last weekend at Norman to keep the Sooners' hopes alive for a berth in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Baseball Tournament at Oklahoma City on May 19-23. He scored six runs, had three doubles, one triple, batted in nine runs, had a 1.083 slugging percentage with 13 total bases and raised his season's average to .331 after the solid weekend. His chief competition came from Kansas State' Bentson Oleen (.583 average) and Oklahoma State's Jay McCullough (10 RBI, .455 average).
