General Public No Longer Allowed On Lewis Field
April 08, 2003 | Cowboy Football
In an effort to help protect Oklahoma State's newly installed AstroPlay surface on Lewis Field, the general public will no longer be allowed access to the playing field following home games.
The new playing surface, which was installed just prior to the start of the 2000 football season, is more sensitive to objects and substances that might be brought or spilled on the field. Accordingly, greater measures must be taken to protect the new surface.
OSU Head Coach Bob Simmons did issue a challenge earlier this week for fans and students to form a human tunnel prior to the Cowboys taking the field for Saturday's game. This challenge is fully supported by the Athletics Department and all interested fans and students may gather by 12:30 PM at the west end tunnel to do so. This does not negate the new policy taking effect following Saturday's game.
