Cowboys fall to Cornhuskers, 6-2

The Cornhuskers took the conference series between the two schools for the first time since the 1995 season when both teams were in the Big Eight.
Nebraska moves to 23-10 overall and 10-5 in Big 12 action while the Cowboys fell to 25-10 overall and 8-7 in conference action.
The Cowboys opened the game with consecutive hits by Jimbo McAuliff and Kevin Lucas before Billy Gasparino advanced them to second and third with a deep fly ball to left field. McAuliff scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Holliday to give OSU an early 1-0 lead.
Nebraska came back to tie the game in the third when right fielder Erik Mumm scored from third off a fielder's choice by left fielder John Cole. The Cornhuskers took a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Mumm knocked a single to center scoring Brandt Vlieger who doubled right before him.
OSU tied the score at 2-2 in the sixth off a Jay McCullough sacrifice fly which plated Billy Gasparino from third.
Kimura's homer came off of Jeremy Krismer who relieved Cowboy starter Denny New with one out in the eighth and a man on first. Krismer walked the next two batters before Kimura hit his fourth round-tripper of the season. New was charged with the loss and dropped to 2-2 on the season despite recording seven strikeouts and pitching a career-high seven and a third innings.
Nebraska reliever Chad Wiles picked up the win pitching two and a third scoreless innings to move to 1-1 on the year..
The Cowboys will be back in action this Tuesday when they host TCU at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Stadium.
