Cowboys Baseball Drops BYU, 6-4

The game was halted after six innings of play because of heavy rains and was eventually called after a hour rain delay. Oklahoma State was scheduled to play Western Illinois at 7 p.m. but that game was postponed until tomorrow as the teams will now play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
Brigham Young opened the scoring in the top of the first when second baseman Ryan Pond whacked a two-run homer to left field to give the Cougars an early 2-0 advantage.
Oklahoma State came back to tie the game in the second inning off a two-RBI single by Matt Mabrey.
Gasparino gave the Pokes the lead in the third with a solo dinger down the right field line. Josh Holliday, who reached on a hit by pitch, scored to give OSU a 4-2 advantage when left fielder Nick Greene dropped a fly ball off the bat of designated hitter Carl-s Gautreaux.
BYU rallied to tie the game in the fourth of a RBI double by Ryan Pond and a RBI single by Rob Itri.
The Cowboys scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-4 lead. The first run came off a RBI groundout by Kevin Lucas while Gasparino knocked a RBI single to left that gave OSU an insurance run. Gasparino finished the night 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
Starter Jeremy Krismer pitched the entire game to move to 4-0 on the season. He pitched six innings and gave up the four runs on five hits while striking out seven.
Oklahoma State improved to 32-11 with the win while BYU fell to 20-27.
