Tommy Kaiser To Leave OSU Post
April 07, 2003 | Cowboy Football
"This was a very difficult and a very personal decision. I just felt the need to back away from coaching for a while. I want to express my sincere appreciation to Coach Simmons for having the confidence to allow me to be part of this staff. It has been a truly rewarding professional experience," Kaiser said.
"I want to thank Terry Don Phillips and Coach Simmons for allowing me to be part of the OSU family," Kaiser said. "It has been a great time to be involved with OSU Football. I'm very proud to be associated with the progress this program has made over the past five years. As far as the immediate future is concerned, there are several possibilities but nothing I can elaborate on at this point," he said.
"Tommy Kaiser has been an extremely valuable part of the Oklahoma State football program for the past six years," said Head Coach Bob Simmons. "He has done an outstanding job as a position coach and also in a leadership role as assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator.
"He has served Oklahoma State football with class. I want to thank him for the dedication he brought to this staff. I wish Tommy, Pamela and their family nothing but the best in the future."
Kaiser came to Oklahoma State from Houston where he coached form 1987 to 1993. He was part of three bowl teams, including two at Houston (Aloha and John Hancock) and one at Oklahoma State (Alamo).
Prior to his collegiate coaching career, he coached at Klein High School in El Campo and Tomball High School in Texas. He was head coach at Weimar and Cleveland High Schools, all in Texas.
As a player, he was a two-year letterman at Houston and played in both the 1971 and 1973 Bluebonnet Bowls. He was an Academic All-American and was Most Valuable Player of Houston's baseball teams in 1973 and 1974.
