"l just would like to say that I am very pleased with this class. I think that the effort of our coaching staff was good. They went out and really recruited, what I think was a really solid football class. A class that really meets our needs. One of the things that we really wanted to try to accomplish immediately, was to get some impact players, some players that we think are impact players here on defense going into the spring semester. I thought that we were able to do that with Alton Weaver, Sean Clavelle, Jamall Williams is back for us, and Ricky Thompson at DB and those were our immediate needs. We were able to fill the needs in the high school ranks bringing in some top notch players not only from in state but out of state. We were able to go across to the state of Texas and bring in an excellent defensive back, Jarmaine Jones out of Carter, tight end Tarrick McGuire, offensive lineman Brian Phillips out of San Antonio. We had an excellent recruiting job with Reggie White out of Liberty, Texas, highly recruited tailback, as well as, Terrance Gaines from Frederick. We got a quarterback, who we think is going to be an excellent quarterback here in B.J. Tiger. We stayed with the Tulsa Washington commitment. B.J. is going to be an excellent quarterback, we are looking forward to him coming in and competing with the other three men that we have on scholarship. Overall, I think that this is a good class and I am really looking forward to some of these guys playing. My intentions are to continue to build on the foundations that we have set here, and to do that some of these young men will redshirt, maybe three or four of them may play. We will find out once we get the guys here during two-a-days. This is a class that will be added to the foundation, and some of the guys will redshirt."
On the signing of B.J.Tiger "l thought that it was out of the blue for some of ya'll (referring to the press), it was not out of the blue for me. We were always connected to B.J. and it was a tough decision for him because he was highly recruited. He had thirty different guys telling him to go here or go there. I think that he went to every school in the Big Twelve. But the bottom line is that he finally ended up at a school where he originally wanted go, and that was Oklahoma State."
"In talking to Bo, his dad, and Gwen, his mom, and really talking to B.J. I think that there were some early issues that he wanted to get leveled out. We have had B.J. in camps over the last couple of years and I think that he felt really comfortable here, for the fact that, we have had several players come to school from Tulsa Washington."
On the Overall Recruiting Process "Our needs were to try to get some JCs here in the month of December, and we were able to do that. Naturally, we always try to focus in on our in state kids, because they are our most important. We really try to do a good job here. Some players wanted to come, while others wanted to go out of state, and others wanted to go in different directions. Once we found that out, we concentrated on our out of state kids. Basically it is in three stages."
