Football Completes Final Preseason Scrimmage

Chaloupka threw TD passes of 35 yards to true freshman receiver John Lewis and 13 yards to junior receiver Ethan Howell, and Lindsay connected with junior tight end Garrett Steggs for a seven-yard score on the first drive of the day.
Sophomore tailback Justin Matthews led the Cowboy rushing attack with 71 yards on 13 carries; redshirt freshman tailback Reggie White had 58 yards on 11 carries. Junior fullback Kevin Brown scored the teams only rushing touchdown, a 15-yard scamper.
Defensively, junior linebacker Billy Stone (seven tackles) and redshirt freshman linebacker Dwayne Levels (six) led the way. Sophomore linebacker Justin Thomas returned an interception 47 yards for a score, and Zac Warner collected two sacks.
The team worked on special teams before and after the scrimmage, with Tim Sydnes hitting four of five field-goal attempts, including a 50-yarder.
Additionally, the Cowboys announced that four seniors - safety Trent Alexander, receiver Sean Love, offensive lineman Jeremy Offutt and defensive end Andrel Waddle - had been named team captains after a team vote Friday evening.
The Cowboys open their season Sept. 5 with a Big 12 Conference contest at Kansas. After a Sept. 12 game at Tulsa, the team opens its home schedule Sept. 19 against Mississippi State.
