Cowboys Throttle Arkansas-Little Rock, 15-2
April 07, 2003 | Cowboy Baseball
The Cowboys never trailed in the contest and swept the two-game set from the Trojans and moved to 17-7 on the season.
Oklahoma State scored 11 runs in the first four innings keyed by a two-RBI single by Josh Holliday in the first and a two-run homer by Matt Mabrey in the fourth.
Holliday went 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs while Mabrey went 2-for-2 with his first homer of the year, a double and three RBIs. Rightfielder Lamont Matthews continued his torrid streak at the plate with a 3-for-6 performance in which all of three of his hits went for extra bases: two doubles and a triple to go along with three runs scored.
Five Cowboy pitchers combined to four-hit the Trojans, with three of their hits coming in the eight inning. Sophomore Will Rosellini picked up his second win of the season allowing only one hit in four innings of work with one strikeout.
With the win, OSU moves to 34-2 all-time versus Arkansas-Little Rock who fell to 10-16 on the year.
The Cowboys will be back in action this weekend in non-conference play at the Homestead Challenge in Homestead, Fla. The Pokes will open tourney play against Harvard on Friday at 5 p.m. CST.
