Baseball Tops Texas, 4-2
April 07, 2003 | Cowboy Baseball
Texas starter Scott Dunn (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill), who went a career-high nine innings and struckout a season-high 11 batters, was solid giving up single runs in the first and seventh innings. In the seventh inning, Oklahoma State tied the game 2-2 when Marc Fournier (Lasalle, Quebec/Cavelier de Lasalle/Seminole JC) hit an RBI double to score Tony Lucca (Daly City, Calif./S. San Francisco/Canada JC).
The Longhorns registered their two runs in the first inning off Oklahoma State starter Matt Smith (Henderson, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) who pitched seven and one-third innings while striking out a season-high eight batters. A sacrifice fly by Jason Cox (Lone Star, Texas/Daingerfield/NE Texas JC) and a ground out by Carlos Sepulveda (Lake Jackson, Texas/Brazoswood) scored both runs.
Of note for Texas, Kade Johnson (Baytown, Texas/Baytown Sterling), who was 3-for-3, was the only player on either team with multiple hits. The game also marked the end of Sepulvedas team season-high 11 game hitting streak.
Texas and Oklahoma State continue their weekend series tomorrow, Saturday, April 4, at Disch-Falk Field. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
