Baseball Romps in Conference Win

The Cowboys won the first game of a conference series for the first time this season and improved to 13-7 overall and 2-5 in the Big 12.
Iowa State remained winless in Big 12 play and are 5-14 overall and 0-7 in conference action.
Lamont Matthews hit his tenth homer of the season and third in the last three games. Also hitting home runs were Josh Holliday and Jay McCullough who both hit their fifth dinger of the year.
Sophomore Matt Smith pitched six innings and gave up only one earned run while striking out six to move to 4-1 on the season. Sophomore Stu Hunt pitched the last three innings to pick up the save, his first of the season.
Oklahoma State and Iowa State will meet in the second game of the series tommorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at Reynolds Stadium. Slated to pitch for the Cowboys will be junior righthander Thom Dreier who is 2-1 on the season with a Big 12 leading 1.11 ERA.
