Baseball Falls to Texas A&M, 5-3

Both teams were locked in a pitching dual with both starters throwing three shutout innings to open the contest.
Freshman Ryan Budde hit a sacrifice fly to right field with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth which scored shortstop Billy Gasparino from third.
The Cowboys added two more runs in the fifth when Gasparino blasted his ninth home run of the season, scoring Kevin Lucas who had reached on an error.
Starter Matt Smith pitched six innings of shutout ball before the Cowboys ran into trouble in the seventh.
Texas A&M scored four runs in the inning courtesy of RBI singles by Sean Heaney and Steve Scarborough.
The Aggies added another run in the bottom of the eighth to give A&M a 5-3 lead.
Junior Danny Kelly (0-1) absorbed the loss in relief for the Pokes while Aggie starter Casey Fossum (3-1) picked up the win with eight innings of five-hit ball while striking out 10.
Both teams will be back in action in the second game of the series tommorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. Scheduled to start for the Pokes will be junior righty Thom Dreier (1-0) while Chance Caple will start for the Aggies.
