Cowboy starter Joe Weaver took the loss to drop to 3-4. The junior allowed four runs on five hits in 5.2 innings with two walks and four strikeouts.
Oklahoma led 2-1 in the sixth when right fielder Greg Kish tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Matt Bose. Hawk proceeded to give up a two-run homer to Spencer Wyman that extended the OU lead to 5-1.
The Cowboys rallied for two runs in their half of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Josh Fields and a solo homer by first baseman John Urick, cutting the lead to 5-3.

Right fielder Lyndsey Simmons then roped a single to left that scored Kirby to make it 6-5. Simmons advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by second baseman Kenny Hansley, but was stranded there as shortstop Chris Gutierrez popped out to second base and José Virgil lined out to right to end the game.
