Oklahoma State Takes Care Of Oklahoma 8-3

Baker scattered four hits in the game and allowed three runs, two earned, while walking two and striking out nine.
Oklahoma State snapped a three-game losing streak to Oklahoma and improved to 28-13 overall and 10-6 in the Big 12. The Sooners fell to 14-24 and 2-14 in league play.
With two outs in the first, the Cowboys took advantage of a dropped fly ball by right fielder Matt Arkison, to plate two unearned runs off of Sooner starter Mark Roberts. Second baseman Kenny Hansley then added a RBI single to right to make it 3-0.
OU cut into the lead with a run in the fourth on a RBI single by designated hitter Matt Bose to make it 3-1.
The Pokes struck for two runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-1. The two-out rally was started with singles by left fielder Scott Kirby and shortstop Chris Gutierrez. Right fielder Lyndsey Simmons then dropped a triple down the right field line to plate the two.
Sooner catcher Spencer Wyman hit a solo homer in the fifth to make it 5-2. They took advantage of a dropped fly ball by Scott Kirby in the sixth to add another run and cut the lead to 5-3.
Center fielder José Virgil roped a solo homer over the right field wall and catcher Jason Jaramillo added a two-out RBI double in the seventh to push the OSU advantage to 7-3.
Shortstop Chris Gutierrez hit his first career homer in the eighth, a solo shot, to conclude the scoring.
Mark Roberts (4-4) allowed eight runs, five earned on 11 hits in eight innings while striking out eight in the loss.
Lyndsey Simmons, Scott Kirby and Chris Gutierrez all led OSU with two hits on the night.
The teams will shift venues for game two and play at the SBC Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. tomorrow. Sophomore southpaw Spencer Grogan is slated to take the mound for the Pokes while OUs starter will be either lefty David Purcey or Casey Brown.
