Westerberg Named Big 12 Player of the Year
April 22, 2003 | Cowboy Golf
Westerberg won medalist honors at last week's league championship by two strokes, carding a one-over-par 211. The Upplands Vasby, Sweden, senior's victory also made him the Big 12 Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Year as he was the top finisher at the league tourney whose grade point average was 2.75 or higher.
Members of OSU's Big 12 Championship team joining Westerberg on the all-conference team are Brian Guetz, Edward Loar and Bo Van Pelt.
The second-ranked Cowboys will be at The Maxwell in Ardmore, Okla., this weekend in their final tuneup before the NCAA Central Regional in Norman on May 15-17. Guetz was the tournament medalist at last year's Maxwell, won by the Cowboys.
