Hawk will move into the starting rotation and has the ability to dominate a game when he throws strikes.
2002: Went 3-4 with a 5.10 ERA in 23 appearances ... made four consecutive starts to open the season before moving to the bullpen ... struck out 50 batters in 42.1 innings pitched ... lefthanded hitters hit just .205 against him ... worked five innings and struck out six against Cal Poly (2/16) ... second on the team in appearances ... worked 4.2 innings and only allowed one hit and struck out seven against Oklahoma (5/16) ... did not allow an earned run in his last eight appearances (12 innings).
2001: Was 2-4 with a 3.88 ERA ... made a team-high 27 appearances, sixth best in OSU history ... tied for team lead with four saves ... had 38 strikeouts in 48.2 innings of work ... stepped up in league play with a 2-2 ledger and a team best 2.28 ERA in 14 appearances ... struck out 23 batters in 27.2 innings in conference action ... got his second start of the year in the Big 12 Tournament against Nebraska (5/17) ... tossed three scoreless innings and struck out four against K-State (4/8) to earn his second win ... picked up a win and a save versus Missouri ... earned saves against Kansas (3/5), Iowa State (4/1) and Texas Tech (5/25) ... struck out two in one inning against Washington State (2/18) ... threw two shutout innings against San Diego State (2/3).
HIGH SCHOOL: Was an honorable mention all-state selection in baseball at Midwest City High ... also earned All Big-City honors by the Daily Oklahoman ... went 4-4 on the mound with a 3.88 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 52.1 innings pitched ... ran cross-country and was a three-year letterwinner ... helped lead the Midwest City Outlaws to the American Legion championship over the summer of 2000 ... was 4-1 with a 2.90 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 29 innings for the legion team before being sidelined with a strained shoulder; he came back to pitch 14 innings in the tourney and was named the MVP after striking out 18 and giving up only one run ... also considered Wichita State, Kansas State, Kansas, Oral Roberts and Texas A&M... was drafted in the 2000 amateur baseball draft in the 40th round by the Atlanta Braves.
PERSONAL: Hobbies include playing baseball and hanging out with friends ... an education major ... son of Tim Hawk ... has one brother, Corey ... born Sept. 10, 1981 ... career goal is to be a professional baseball player ... favorite athlete is Rob Van Dam ... chose Oklahoma State because it was always a dream to come play baseball for the Cowboys.
