Quaempts will pitch out of the bullpen this season and continue to build strength in his arm.
2002: Received a medical redshirt after having Tommy John surgery during the spring.
2000-2001: Played two seasons at Linn-Benton College in Albany, Ore. ... was considered the 15th best junior college baseball prospect by Baseball America in 2001 ... went 5-5 with a 2.50 ERA as a sophomore ... was 4-3 with a 1.04 ERA in 2000 en route to all-conference honors ... was drafted in the 29th round of the amateur draft by the Texas Rangers ... also considered UCLA, Texas, Nebraska, Florida and Virginia Tech.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played four sports at Pendleton High ... was a BATS All-American in 1999 as pitcher/third baseman ... also earned all-conference honors ... lettered three years in baseball under Coach Steve Carey ... was 4-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 1998 ... struck out 88 batters in 1999 and was named the team MVP ... also lettered in soccer at goalie, as a tight end in football and at shooting guard in basketball.
