Cowboy Golf Finishes Sixth at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

The Cowboys, who entered the day in second place and 10 shots out of the lead, wrapped up the tournament with a 54-hole total of 875, 11-over, and 23 shots behind first-place finisher Augusta State. Clemson's D.J. Trahan carded a 67 on the day to force extra holes before claiming medalist honors in a playoff over North Carolina's Dustin Bray and Ryan Blaum of Duke.
For OSU, junior Hunter Mahan led the way with a a one-under total of 215 after firing a two-under 70 on the day to move into a tie for 12th place. True freshman Chris Clarke began the day tied for seventh, but dipped into a tie for 23rd at three-over after a round of 78.
Sophomore Alex Norén turned in a score of 77 to come in one shot off Clarke's pace at 220 and tied for 29th place, while redshirt freshman Zack Robinson carded his second consecutive round of 74 to finish at 221 and tied for 34th place.
Fellow redshirt freshman Stewart Dodson followed up a pair of 86s with a round of 92 to finish in 78th place.
The Cowboys will return to action on Feb. 24 when they travel to Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Country Club.
