2001: Started at both strong safety and weak safety as well as his kickoff return chores. Masseys most significant contribution in 2001, however, came as a kick returner, where he had 15 returns for 522 yards and a 97-yard touchdown. As a defensive back in 2001, he played in six games (missing action because of a shoulder injury). His defensive numbers included 46 tackles and one interception. He also spent considerable practice time on the offensive side of the ball at quarterback and took his first collegiate snap as a quarterback at Texas A&M. Masseys numbers led the Big 12 and the NCAA. The most incredible game in his incredible season came against Texas Tech on Lewis Field where he had 208 yards on five returns, establishing a single-game Oklahoma State record. For the season, he had two returns of 90 or more yards, including his 97-yard touchdown against Texas and a 92-yarder against Texas Tech.
2000: Started every game his sophomore year with time split between a pair of positions. He started the first four games at free safety before starting the last seven games at left corner. He finished the season as OSUs fourth-leading tackler with 61. His 51 solo tackles was the third-best number on the defense. His two interceptions was tied for second on the team. He had two punt returns for 25 yards and a kickoff return for 11 yards.
1999: Played in all 11 games for the Cowboys as a true freshman. Earned his first collegiate start against Texas A&M at College Station. His 1999 statistics included 29 total tackles and two tackles for losses. He had two passes broken up and led the team with two blocked kicks. He had one incomplete pass vs. Kansas State.
High School: Came out of Spiro High School rated one of the premier prospects in the nation. Massey was the states top prospect according to SuperPrep, First Down Recruiting and Max Emfinger. His high school numbers were phenomenal. As a senior, Massey ran for 1,221 yards and 15 touchdowns and passed for 1,308 yards and 14 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Massey had 112 tackles and four interceptions from his free-safety position. A preseason All-American by SuperPrep, he was Oklahomas only member of the Prep Star Dream Team. He was named a Parade All-American, the only Oklahoma player to be named to that elite list. He was an All-State selection by the Daily Oklahoman, Tulsa World and Coaches Association. Massey was recruited by almost everyone but narrowed his choices to OSU, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
