Kraft will start the season at short and give the Cowboys a good offensive player at the spot.
2002: Hit .250 in 27 games, including six starts ... succeeded in all four of his steal attempts ... went 2-5 and drove in two runs against Centenary on Apr. 17... had a hit against Oklahoma on May 17 ... made his first career start in the outfield against Texas at the Big 12 Tournament on May 23 ... spent the 2002 season recovering from shoulder surgery in the fall of 2001 ... had a strong summer season for the Covington Lumberjacks of the Shenandoah Valley League ... made the all-star team and recieved the Lumberjacks leadership award ... hit .265 with seven doubles, 23 RBIs and had a 23-game hitting streak ... also was successful on 14-of-15 steal attempts.
2001: Hit for a .358 average with 12 doubles ... played in 49 games with 28 starts, 15 coming at the shortstop spot ... hit .500 in three games in the Big 12 Tournament, driving in three runs and scoring two ... was on fire against Nebraska in four games hitting .727 (8-for-11) ... went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored in win over Princeton (3/10) ... turned in a 4-for-6 performance with 3 RBI against San Diego State (2/3) ... was named to the Caballero Classic All-Tournament Team after finishing 6-for-11 in three games.
1999-2000: Was the backup at shortstop at Florida State behind All-American Brett Groves ... played in 10 games and had one hit in eight at-bats with an RBI ... had seven assists with one error in the field ... was named to the ACC Honor Roll which awards student athletes who excel in the classroom.
HIGH SCHOOL: Named the Class A State Player of the Year following his senior season at Oak Hall High ... a broken arm cut short his senior season; finished with a .549 batting average and eight doubles ... hit .543 with eight home runs and stole 23 bases in 24 attempts as a junior ... never hit below .400 in high school: hit .435 as a freshman and .605 as a sophomore ... was a four-year letterwinner in baseball and was a first team all-area pick in each of those years ... a first team all-state selection as a sophomore, junior and senior ... received the Hugh OBrien Leadership Award and was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and Student Government Association ... was the Alachua County Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior.
PERSONAL: A social studies major ... son of Steven and Randy Kraft ... coached in high school by Kevin Maris, son of Roger Maris ... born June 25, 1981 ... favorite athlete is infielder David Eckstein of the Anaheim Angels ... favorite musician is Pat Green ... career goal is to be a professional baseball player then coach major college baseball ... chose Oklahoma State because it was a great opportunity to be a part of a major baseball program and compete for a championship.
