Yates provides the infield with a solid reserve who can play a variety of positions.
2001-2002: Played two seasons at Barton County College in Great Bend, Kan. ... hit .494 with six homers, 15 doubles, two triples and 53 RBIs in 2002 ... set the schools all-time batting average record ... was an all-conference selection and helped lead team to best season in school history, finishing with a 44-14 record ... went 7-for-10 and led the team in batting average during the Jayhawk West Sub-Regionals ... played three seasons of summer baseball in a wood bat league with the Wichita Braves, Dallas Titans and Red River Reds ... also considered Nebraska and Missouri.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a three-year letterwinner as a shortstop/rightfielder at McKinney High ... was the rookie of the year in 1998 and also earned all-district honors as a junior and senior ... batted .365 with three homers and 32 RBIs as a senior ... led the team in the state playoffs, going 8-for-14 with two homers.
