Robert Allen Joins Cowboy Radio Network
April 17, 2003 | Cowboy Football
"I'm really looking forward to doing the sideline job," said Allen. "Larry Reece and Dave Hunziker were interested in it and Les Miles was supportive of it, and it all came together."
Allen joins Hunziker, in his second season as play-by-play man for the Cowboys, and Tom Dirato, color commentator for OSU football for the past 21 years.
"Everyone involved was in agreement that we have a strong network and a quality sound, but we missed having a perspective from the sideline," said Reece, the general manager of Cowboy Sports Properties. "Robert was a natural choice. I don't think there's anyone in the media who knows more about OSU football than Robert Allen. He's passionalte about it, and he's professional. He can be objective, and he certainly knows football."
Oklahoma State and its new broadcast crew will open the season on Aug. 31 as the Cowboys travel to Shreveport, La., to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Independence Stadium.
