Oregon State Shuts Out Oklahoma State 4-0
April 17, 2003 | Cowboy Baseball
The Beavers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first that proved to be all they would need to improve to 2-2 on the year. The Cowboys dropped to 1-2 on the year and have not scored against Oregon State in two all-time meetings.
Oregon State added a run in the second and another in the seventh to close out the scoring.
Starter Joe Weaver took the loss to drop to 0-2 on the year while Jake Postlewait improved to 1-0. Weaver gave up three runs, two earned in three innings of action while Postlewait blanked the Pokes in 5.1 innings on the mound with three strikeouts and two walks. Jon Koller pitched the final 3.2 innings to pick up the save.
Cowboy catcher Jason Jaramillo went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, the lone extra base hit of the game. Left fielder Seth Pietsch and first baseman Andy Jarvis led the Beavers with two hits each.
Oklahoma State will be back in action Saturday at 5 p.m. CT against No. 5 Arizona State. Scott Baker will take the hill for the Cowboys while Beau Vaughan is slated to pitch for the Sun Devils.
