Jackson Garners Two National Awards
April 17, 2003 | Cowgirl Soccer
Oklahoma State sophomore Jeni Jackson was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and the Soccer America Team of the Week for her play in the win over Oklahoma last Friday. Jackson became the second Cowgirl defender to snag the awards after Marcela Nová won earlier this year.
A sophomore from Broken Arrow, Okla., Jackson earned the honors after recording a hat trick against Oklahoma. It was the first time a Cowgirl has accomplished the feat since Carrie Jones in 1997.
Prior to the OU game Jackson had not scored a goal in 38 contests, but she ended the streak by scoring three in the final 5:49 of the contest to give Oklahoma State an impressive 3-2 come-from-behind victory.
Jackson's play was crucial as the win gave the Cowgirls the final invite to the Big 12 Tournament in San Antonio, Texas. OSU kicks off the tournament against top-seeded Texas A&M at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
