Hunter Mahan Named to U.S. Palmer Cup Team

The player, currently considered the top eight American college golfers, will represent the United States in the sixth annual match play event July 11-12 at Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare, Ireland. The U.S. squad will take on a squad comprised of players from Great Britain and Ireland.
Mahan, a McKinney, Texas, native, has won three tournaments this season and currently leads the Cowboys with a 70.62 stroke average. The 2002 Ben Hogan Award finalist has also been OSU's top finisher in six events and is coming off a fourth-place finish this week at the Big 12 Championship, giving him six top 10s on the year.
With his selection, Mahan becomes the fourth Cowboy to be be named to the squad, joining Bo Van Pelt (1997), Charles Howell (1999) and Ed Loar (1999).
