Cowgirls Finish Sixth At Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

Oklahoma State's women's cross country team placed sixth in the 11th Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Sat., Oct. 19, at the University of Arkansas.

Among the 25 teams that competed were Big 12 foes Nebraska and Kansas State. Arkansas claimed the top spot with a team score of 47, while K-State took second place with a score of 104.

Junior Marie Nilsson led the Cowgirls with a fifth-place finish and a time of 21:05.25. Senior Alexandra Lindquist came in with a time of 21:48.77 and a 15th-place finish, while teammates Sharalee Sparks, Catherine Clifford, Joanna Fedick, Michelle Simecka and Vera Waller finished in 42nd, 71st, 86th, 105th and 157th, respectively.

The Cowgirls will travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Big 12 Championships on Nov. 2.
