Cowboy Golfers Finish Second at Inverness Intercollegiate

The Cowboys tied tournament winner Florida for the day's low round at the Inverness Club, carding a three-over 287 to finish nine strokes behind the Gators.
Sophomore Alex Norén fired a final-round 74 to finish tied for third with a 54-hole total of 217 and earn his first career top-five finish. The Stockholm, Sweden, native came in two shots behind co-champions, Camilo Villegas of Florida and Nick Watney of Fresno State.
Junior Hunter Mahan recorded the Cowboys' lone round under par on the day, posting a one-under 70 to move into a tie for 12th place at 221, eight-over-par, while fellow junior Pär Nilsson recorded his best round of the tournament, an even-par 71, to finish in sole possession of 21st place at 224.
Competing in his first collegiate tournament, redshirt freshman Zack Robinson came in two shots behind Nilsson, finishing tied for 24th at 226 after posting a 72 on Tuesday.
True freshman Chris Clarke turned in a three-round total of 236 after shooting and 11-over 82 on the day.
OSU will return to action on Sept. 30 when it travels to Golf, Illinois for the Windon Memorial Classic.
