April 14, 2003 | Cowboy Football
Woods is coming off a record-setting 2001 season in which he led all Big 12 receivers with 80 receptions for 1,023 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Oklahoma City native's name is peppered throughout the Oklahoma State record book and is a preseason All-Big 12 selection by both the coaches and the Associated Press.
In addition, he was recently named one of the Top 30 college players in the country by Mel Kiper, coming in at No. 22.
Woods is one of four Big 12 wide receivers on the watch list along with Reggie Newhouse of Baylor, Justin Gage of Missouri and Roy Williams of Texas.
The Biletnikoff Award is in its ninth year of existence and former winners include Terry Glenn (1995), Randy Moss (1997) and Antonio Bryant (2000).
Woods joins fellow Cowboys Elbert Craig (Jim Thorpe Award Watch List) and Luke Phillips (Lou Groza Award Watch List) in receiving consideration as the best players in the nation at their positions.
Oklahoma State opens the 2002 season against Louisiana Tech on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La.
