Thompson Stars as Cowboys Rock Tulsa

Thompson, who carried 34 times, recorded the 10th-highest rushing performance in school history. Oklahoma State (2-1) improved to 21-6-3 at home against Tulsa, including wins in the last 17 meetings. The Cowboys last lost at home to the Golden Hurricanes (0-2) in 1951.
Tim Sydnes' 31-yard field goal gave OSU a 3-0 lead after the first quarter before Thompson scampered in from six yards away less than a minute into the second period. Sydnes added a 40-yarder later in the period as the Cowboys led, 13-6, at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, Thompson plunged in for a two-yard score on the first play of the final period. Terrance Richardson's 19-yard scoring reception from Tone' Jones with 7:19 remaining and Sydnes' 26-yard field goal 2:08 later sealed the win.
Jones finished 7-for-18 for 84 yards while Alonzo Mayes had five receptions for 58 yards for Oklahoma State.
James Anderson had field goals of 33, 38 and 39 for Tulsa (0-2). Reggie Williams rushed 19 times for 131 yards while Damon Savage had four catches for 81 yards. Starting quarterback John Fitzgerald was just 3-of-14 for 65 yards.
