Q&A With Darrent Williams
April 14, 2003 | Cowboy Football
You are considered a small cornerback. How do you make up for that? With speed and I can jump. I can dunk a basketball. In high school, I was a point guard and I could dunk. I've got pretty good jumping abilities.
Talk about playing so much so young. It was tough at first. Coming to college, all I wanted to do was play. I was up to the challenge.
Who is the toughest receiver you've had to face in college? Probably Sloan Thomas of Texas.
Did you watch anybody, defensive backs in particular, growing up? Deion Sanders of course. I like Ty Law, I've been following him since he was at Michigan. I also like Dre Bly.
Do you ever try to get into your opponent's heads during the game? Sure. If I make a play, I'm going to be in your face.
What are your plans after college ball? It's my dream to go to the pros, so hopefully I get to do that.
What would you attribute your success to? My mom. She was a single parent, and she has been a big influence in my life. She's always taught me to work hard, do what's right, and never give up.
