Cowboys Complete First Major Scrimmage
April 14, 2003 | Cowboy Football
The Cowboys, just over two weeks from their season opener against Louisiana Tech, went through a two-hour workout Wednesday afternoon on Lewis Field, most of which was live scrimmage.
"I thought it was a good day," said Oklahoma State's second-year head coach. "I think we got some things accomplished in all phases. Now, we will try to shore some things up before we do this again Saturday night."
Wednesday's closed workout produced highlites on both sides of the ball, including efficient performances by wide receivers Rashaun Woods and Errick McCown who had three catches.
Defensive back/kick returner Chris Massey produced another scrimmage highlite by returning a kick 100 yards. Massey led the country in kick returns a year ago and is a preseason All America candidate in 2003.
The Cowboys return to normal two-a-day workouts Thursday and Friday before staging another major scrimmage Saturday night. Saturday's scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
