With the win against Missouri (10-5, 4-4), Oklahoma State (13-6, 7-3) has won six of its last seven matches overall. OSU is riding a five match win streak.
OSU once again got off to a good start by picking up the doubles point, a feat that they have accomplished in seven consecutive outings.
"Our doubles played exceptional," said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. "It is too bad that we had the loss, but they are a higher ranked team than we are. It was still a very close match at the No. 1 position."
The Cowgirls got on the board first when senior Erin Pauchnik and sophomore Ewa Radzikowska picked up an 8-3 decision over MU's Hana Kraftova and Mary Barry at the No. 2 position.
OSU would clinch the point when sophomore Ines Furtmayr and freshman Zana Masnic dropped Lucie Ruskova and Kristina Olshanskaya at the No. 3 position, 8-3.
The Tigers would avoid the doubles sweep by picking up a victory at the No. 1 position. The No. 15 ranked duo of Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova outlasted the No. 23 ranked Cowgirl tandem of senior Linda Faltynkova and junior Katya Kolodynska, 8-8 (7-3).
"It is amazing how our team has become better at the doubles positions," said Lubicz-Majewski. "We were weak because we were looking for all sorts of different options. It is nice to see Zana (Masnic) and Ines (Furtmayr) performing so well for us."
Oklahoma State once again complemented outstanding doubles play with solid singles action at the bottom of the lineup.
Kolodynska led things off for the Cowgirls by picking up a quick 6-3, 6-0, decision over Missouri's Kraftova at the No. 3 position, giving OSU the 2-0 lead.
The Tigers would respond with a victory at the No. 2 position. Sevcikova defeated senior Kate Vasylyeva in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
OSU would put the match away with consecutive wins at the No. 5 and 6 positions.
Furtmayr extended the Cowgirl lead by defeating Ruskova at the No. 6 position, 6-3, 6-3. Masnic provided the match clinching victory minutes later with a 6-0, 6-4, victory over Barry at the No. 5 position.
Radzikowska would score the Cowgirls' final team point by outlasting Olshanskaya at the No. 4 position, 6-2, 1-6, 2-1 (ret.). Radzikowska is riding an eight match conference winning streak.
Missouri would tally the final team point when No. 34 Urska Juric outlasted Faltynkova at the No. 1 position, 6-4, 7-5.
"You could see that our girls have a lot of heart," said Lubicz-Majewski. "They really wanted to win this match. I am very proud of them."
The Cowgirls will say goodbye to four seniors on Saturday, April 19, when they host No. 41 Baylor (9-10, 7-1) in their final match of the regular season.
OSU trails in the all time series against it's Big 12 South opponent, 3-5. The Cowgirls split two meetings with the Bears last year, winning 4-2 in the second round of the Big 12 tournament.
The match against the Bears is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the DuBois Tennis Center, in Stillwater, Okla.
