Cowboys Dominate Panthers, 28-10, to Advance to Second Round

The Cowboys won the first three bouts to take a 15-0 lead. Skyler Holman and Johnny Thompson each recorded falls to give the Pokes a 12-0 advantage. Thompson's fall snapped his two-match losing skid.
Second-ranked Zack Esposito faced off with third-ranked Dylan Long in the 141-pound match.
Esposito scored an early takedown in the first period to take a 2-0 lead heading into the second frame. Long would cut Esposito's lead to 2-1 after recording an escape in the second.
The Three Bridges, N.J., native would then notch a takedown to go up 4-1 before Long would take the lead after recording an escape and takedown, along with a technical violation point.
Esposito then reversed Long to give him the 6-5 lead, which he would not relinquish as he captured the 7-5 victory.
UNI notched its first team points after Jon Garvin decisioned Kevin Ward, 6-4. Ward took an early 4-0 lead, but Garvin came roaring back to notch the win.
OSU then reeled off four straight wins, including Shane Roller's major decision over Chris Betitto, to take a 28-3 lead going into the final two matches.
The Panthers took the final two matches, notching a major decision at 197 pounds and a decision at 285 pounds.
The Cowboys will face eighth-seeded Arizona State in the second round of the championship match at 1 p.m. (EST)
