Cowboy Wrestling Captures RTOC Title

The Cowboys cruised to victory, raking up 139 team points. Arizona State and Edinboro tied for second with 87.5 points, while Bosie State and Oregon rounded out the top five with 82 and 77 points, respectively.
Jerrod Sanders recorded his third RTOC title after recording the decision over Oregon's Tony Overstake, 5-4. The El Reno, Okla., native wrestled his way to the finals after defeating Colin Robertson, 8-3, in the semifinals.
Johnny Thompson notched a tournament win after defeating Urijah Faber, 6-4. Thompson defeated Rad Martinez of Clarion, 3-1 in sudden victory to reach the finals.
Chris Pendleton decisioned Appalachian State's All-American Mark Fee, 12-7. The Lemoore, Calif., native battled his way through the semifinals, defeating Carl Fronhofer, 11-7.
Skyler Holman, Shane Roller and Jake Rosholt all placed second. Holman lost a 6-2 decision to Ben Vombaur, while Roller got pinned by Jeremiah Jarvis in 1:53.
Rosholt fell to Princeton's top-seed Greg Parker, 10-2. The two points he scored on Parker were the first the All-American gave up throughout the tournament.
Muahmmed Lawal suffered his first setback of the year to David Shunamon of Edinboro, 2-1 in the tiebreaker.
The Cowboys return to action on Saturday, Dec. 21, when they travel to Provo, Utah, to take on Boise State.
