Six Wrestlers Named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team

Six members of Oklahoma State's wrestling team received Academic All-Big 12 accolades, the conference announced this week.
For the second straight year, the Cowboys had the most wrestlers receive academic honors.
For an athlete to earn first-team honors, he must maintain a 3.2 grade point average or better, and second-team members must have a 3.0-3.19 gpa.
Shane Roller earned his fourth Academic All-Big 12 honor after earning a 3.33 gpa last semester, and is now a two-time first-team Academic All-American.
The Bixby, Okla., native majored in psychology with an emphasis in pre-med. He is currently working on his master's in Athletic Administration.
Michael Christian and Chad Reid each notched first-team honors. Christian is a sophomore from Lynnwood, Wash., and is majoring in political science with a 3.39 gpa.
Reid earned his second first-team honors after recording a 3.58 gpa. The Sallisaw, Okla., native is majoring in biology with an emphasis in pre-med.
Johnny Thompson, Skyler Holman and Rusty Blackmon all recorded second-team honors after earning a 3.0 gpa.
Thompson, a junior from Oklahoma City, is majoring in secondary education and is now a two-time honoree, while Holman and Blackmon each earned their first academic honors.
Holman, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., and is majoring in economics, while Blackmon is from Chattanooga, Tenn., and is undecided on his major.
