Slightly more than two months after a Houston Bowl victory, Oklahoma State's football Cowboys open spring drills Wednesday with an evening practice on Lewis Field.
The Cowboys, under third-year head coach Les Miles, are scheduled to open the spring with a 6:25 p.m., workout under the lights on Lewis Field. The first session will be in shorts and is open to the public.
"We're excited to get back on the field," Miles said. "The last season was gratifying in many ways but there is certainly work to be done. Our goal is to accomplish as much as we can in all phases of the game."
The Cowboys will have 15 spring workouts between Wednesday and April 11. Of those 15 workouts, 10 can be in full pads. The early schedule calls for open practices on Wednesday, March 5, Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7. All three practices are scheduled to begin at 6:25 p.m.
No workouts are scheduled for Saturday or Sunday. Three closed workouts are scheduled for next week before the Cowboys take off for spring break. When the Pokes return from break, they will stage an open practice at 6:25 p.m., on March 24 before going back behind closed doors on March 26 and March 27.
Oklahoma State's 2003 spring workout schedule is tentative and subject to change with little or no advance notice.
