The Cowgirls received consistent play from both singles and doubles play to notch their second conference win of the season.
OSU (7-3 overall, 2-3 Big 12) got off to a good start against Kansas (6-7 overall, 2-4 Big 12) by picking up the doubles point.
At the No. 1 position, the 20th ranked duo of senior Linda Faltynkova and junior Katya Kolodynska held on to a close victory over Courtney and Kristen Steinbock, 9-7.
Kansas evened things up when Paige Brown and Emily Haylock defeated senior Erin Pauchnik and freshman Zana Masnic at the No. 2 doubles position, 8-4.
The Cowgirls locked up the doubles point with a victory at the No. 3 slot. Senior Kate Vasylyeva and sophomore Ewa Radzikowska dominated Luiza Loureiro and Grisell Granados en route to a 8-3 victory.
OSU would go on to win five out of six singles matches for the overall victory.
Faltynkova started things off by picking up a victory over Courtney Steinbock at the No. 1 singles position, 6-3. Stienbock could not finish due to injury, defaulting the second set.
Vasylyeva picked up the next team point for the Cowgirls, defeating KU's Brown in straight sets at the No. 2 singles slot, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
The lone Jayhawk point came when Haylock defeated Kolodynska at the No. 3 position, 6-4, 6-4.
The Cowgirls got consistent play from their bottom three positions, sealing the days victory. Radzikowska dominated Christin Skoda, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 position.
Masnic came from behind to win in a super tie breaker over KU's Kim Lorenz, (5-7), 6-0, 10-2. Sophomore Ines Furtmayr rounded out the days scoring for the Cowgirls by defeating Kristen Steinbock at the No. 6 position in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Both coaches elected to allow a No. 7 singles player to scrimmage against each other. Cowgirl senior Gorana Marsic easily defeated Granados, 8-1.
The victory over Kansas gave the Cowgirls their second conference win of the year, breaking a three match losing streak.
Oklahoma State returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Boston, Mass. to take on Harvard. The Cowgirls are 1-3 all time versus the Ivy League school. OSU has not lost a non conference match this year. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
