Cowboys Defeat Princeton 6-3

Durham, N.C.- First baseman John Urick's RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning broke open a 2-2 game as Oklahoma State defeated Princeton 6-3 in baseball action Saturday afternoon at Durham Bulls Park.
The Cowboys improved to 11-6 with the win while Princeton fell to 1-6.
Third baseman Josh Fields walked to start the rally in the seventh before Urick laced a double down the leftfield line that plated Fields. The Cowboys added three more runs when Mario Matulich's fly ball to center was dropped by B.J. Szymanski with the bases loaded and two outs.
Princeton catcher Tim Lahey blasted a solo homer in the ninth to close out the scoring.
Oklahoma State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a bunt-single by second baseman Kenny Hansley and a throwing error by Princeton starting pitcher Ross Ohlendorf that allowed catcher Jason Jaramillo to score from second.
The Tigers tied the game in the third on a two-out RBI single by designated hitter Jon Miller. OSU took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning when Jose Virgil scored from second on a deep sacrifice fly by third baseman Josh Fields.
Princeton tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth on a two-out RBI single by centerfielder B.J. Szymanski off of Cowboy starter Jimmy Rhodes.
Rhodes pitched six innings and gave up two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Reliever Shane Hawk (3-0) pitched the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out four to pick up the win.
Ohlendorf struck out nine and walked three in five innings of work. Reliever Mark Siano (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs, two earned on two hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Designated hitter Jon Miller and catcher Tim Lahey led the Tigers offensively with two hits each.
Oklahoma State will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT against Old Dominion at the Durham Bulls Park.
