Cowboy Golf Comes From Behind to Win Puerto Rico Classic

PALMER, Puerto Rico - Oklahoma State's men's golf team erased a six-shot deficit on Tuesday to post its first victory of the spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic with a two-under-par score of 862.
The Cowboys, who entered the final round in third place and six shots behind tournament leader North Carolina State, blistered the Rio Mar Country Club's River Course with a tournament-low round of 282, six-under, to finish 10 shots ahead of Minnesota, Clemson and Texas.
N.C. State's Justin Walters and Texas' Jason Hartwick tied for medalist honors with totals of 211, five-under.
OSU's surge was led by the steady play of redshirt freshman Zack Robinson and junior Hunter Mahan. The duo tied three other players for third place at two-under-par. After opening with rounds of 72 and 70, Robinson carded an even-par 72 to close out the tournament with his first career top-five finish. After opening with a 71, Mahan recovered from a second-round 76 on Monday with a final-round 67 to move into third after beginning the day tied for 16th.
True freshman Chris Clarke recorded his low round of the tournament on Tuesday, coming in with a two-under 70 to finish in sole possession of eighth place with a 54-hole total of 216.
Junior P?r Nilsson turned in his second consecutive round of 73, giving him a 220 total and placing him in a four-way tie for 20th, while sophomore Alex Nor?n's final-round 77 was good for a 233 total and a tie for the 65th position.
The Cowboys will return to action on March 7 when they travel to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Intercollegiate.
