Cowgirl Tennis Starts Season with a Win

Cowgirl senior, Linda Faltynkova defeated Stephanie Johns at the No. 1 singles position in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Fellow senior, Kate Vasylyeva was able to take care of business in the No. 2 singles slot by defeating Abby Frick, 6-1, 6-0.
Junior Katya Kolodynska dominated Jennifer Jones in the third position en route to a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Sophomore Ines Furtmayr followed by defeating Sarah Bowman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Newcomer Zana Masnic defeated Erin Parriott in the No. 5 position by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Cowgirl senior Erin Pauchnik rounded out the perfect afternoon by defeating Christy Jones, 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth position.
The doubles teams wrapped up the seventh team point by sweeping Central Oklahoma in all three slots.
Faltynkova and Kolodynska defeated the team of Jones and Frick in the No. 1 doubles position by a score of 8-1.
In the second doubles position, seniors Gorana Marsic and Erin Pauchnik dominated the team of Bowman and Parriott, 8-0.
Vasylyeva and Masnic rounded out doubles play with a victory over the team of Jones and Johns, 8-1.
The Cowgirls next match comes when they face Southwest Missouri State Feb. 8 in Tulsa, Okla.
