Cowboys Drop Panthers, 30-14

Johnny Thompson and Tyrone Lewis each recorded pins to lead Oklahoma State to a 30-14 victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The top-ranked Cowboys won seven of the 10 bouts before recording their 13th win of the season and moved the all-time series record against the Panthers to 13-2.
The dual started at 184 pounds with Jordan Holm scoring eight takedowns en route to a 20-7 major decision over Brett Munson.
The Cowboys cut the lead to 4-3 after Muhammed Lawal squeaked by with a 5-4 decision over Sean Stender.
The 14th-ranked Panthers would extend their lead to 8-3 after Paul Hynek notched the 11-2 major decision over Mike Christian.
Skyler Holman notched a technical fall over Chris Helgeson, to tie the score at 8-8, while Thompson put the Cowboys on top 14-8 after pinning Chad Davis in 4:18.
Holman garnered three takedowns and three three-point nearfalls en route to a 17-1 romp over Helgeson.
The Panthers tied the score at 14-14 after Dylan Long used two takedowns before pinning Ronnie Delk in 4:00.
Jerrod Sanders and Shane Roller each notched decisions for the Pokes at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively. Sanders defeated Jon Garvin, 5-3, while Roller dropped Chris Bitetto, 10-6.
Lewis captured the Cowboys' second pin of the day, to extend OSU's lead to 26-14. Lewis scored three takedowns in the first period to take a 6-2 advantage heading into the second frame.
The El Reno, Okla., native rushed out to a 14-3 lead after recording a pair of takedowns and a three-point nearfall. Lewis then pinned Drew Kelly with :44 left in the second period.
Chris Pendleton closed out the afternoon with a 14-4 major decision over Hesston Johnson.
The Cowboys return to action on Sunday when they travel to Ames, Iowa, for conference action against the Iowa State Cyclones. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
