Cowboys Gain Football Academic All Conference Honors

The Cowboys were represented on the first team by five student athletes who had grade point averages of 3.20 or better. Nine other Cowboys were named to the second team with grade point averages of 3.00 or better.
OSU's first team Academic All Big 12 players include tight end Billy Bajema, linebacker Paul Duren, cornerback Vernon Grant, defensive lineman Darnell Smith and  linebacker Josh Wheeler. Bajema, Duren and Grant are all starters for OSU's 9-3 squad that is ranked 23rd in the country and headed for a second straight bowl appearance.
Second team selections include kicker Brent Baisden, kicker Luke Phillips, defensive back Freddie Sinclair, defensive end Antonio Smith, defensive lineman Mike Williams, tight end Charlie Johnson, defensive back Daniel McLemore, defensive back Jamar Ransom and offensive lineman Caleb Noble.
