Cowgirl Cross Country signs former Kansas state champion

Oklahoma State's Cross Country program signed 2002 Kansas 4A State Champion Brittany Hill earlier this week to a National Letter of Intent. Hill, a four-time state qualifier from Hugoton, Kan., will be added to a roster full of young and talented runners next season.

“She's going to add to our team as far as cross country goes and really help us out there,” Oklahoma State Head Coach Rene Sepulveda said.

Hill was the Class 4A State runnerup during her freshman and sophomore years before winning the state championship during her junior season. Hill finished third at the Kansas State Championships in Wamego, Kan., in earlier this month.

Hill's personal record in the 5K is 19:05. She will graduate in May as Valedictorian of Hugoton High School with a 4.0 GPA.

“She's from an area where the racing conditions are pretty rough,” Sepulveda said. “She's going to be a tough competitor with all the different conditions we have in the Big 12.”
