Recap?|? Final Stats?|? Notes
OSU Coach Les Miles
On the game
"I thought we really came out and did what we had to do today to get on track. We came out and won the football game and did so convincingly. It was not perfect and somewhat sloppy, but overall it was just what we needed."
On Rashaun Woods' 51 yard catch
"Rashaun Woods is playing strong football. In his two outings he has about 19 catches and over 300 yards total offense. He is a special player, and we are going to go to him on a regular basis. Again tonight, he showed his abilities. When the opponent tries to take Rashaun out of the game, it gives us other opportunities to move the football. Northern Iowa started out not worrying about Rashaun, and it ended up costing them. We took advantage of their defense against Rashaun. "
On the outcome of the game
"We talked about being a dominate football team. I think at times that is how our guys played. I thought it was a predictable outcome. "
On last week's game
"Last week is gone, but not forgotten. We are on to other things. This week we got back on track, and we did so in a convincing fashion."
On turnover margin
"The defense played their football. Elbert Craig and Darrent both had a nice pick and a touchdown return. Our defense stopped the rush."
Wide Receiver Rashaun Woods
On the 51-yard reception
"They gave us one-on-one on the outside and Josh Fields took my side and that set up the big play."
On the importance of the win
"We needed this win. Losing wasn't acceptable for this team, especially against these guys. We knew to come in and win and dominate.
On the teams confidence
"We've had the same amount of confidence even after that loss, we knew that we were a good football team. Louisiana Tech is a good team. We let one slip through the cracks, but we still have a lot of confidence and still want to be bowl bound."
On his confidence level
"I have to do what I can for the team. If they look for me to make a big play I really put the pressure on myself to make that play, and that is how I go about it. "
Quarterback Josh Fields
On team's offensive performance
"We have two good quarters each game. We are still trying to progress and turn it into four quarters. Once we get through it I think that we will be a good ball team. That's our goal right now, we just need to put four quarters together."
On the importance of Rashaun Woods
"He is definitely the person that you look for. But then again, it is really easy to sit out there. I don't think that I got sacked one time tonight. That is a lot more comforting when you don't get sacked. If you just stay up and get the ball off you are going to have guys like him and T.D. (Bryant) make plays."
Northern Iowa Head Coach Mark Farley
On difference between this year and last year
"I see a different football team for our prospective, because we lost an opportunity. Late in the first quarter when we had them on their heels and the momentum was on our side of the field, we lost that opportunity. I'm not saying that would have won us the football game, but we had our opportunities to play this football game."
On third and 21
"It was a great player that made an incredible catch. Whether we could have called a better defense, or made better plays, but good football players make plays and that's what he (Rashaun Woods) did."
On Rashaun Woods
"Woods is an incredible football player and will give fits to any defensive coordinator. How do you take away Rashaun Woods? You're not going to take him on one-on-one, even if you have seven corners because he's going to make a move sooner or later. He proved that last week, he proved that this week. Rashaun Woods is a very good player and allows their offense to do so much more than just throw the ball."
On no huddle
"It was a little bit of a surprise and it picked up the tempo of the game. The number of plays they were bringing out and our players weren't used to that and we had never practiced that. It was good that we learned from it because it was an easy adjustment after half."
Northern Iowa quarterback Griff Jurgens
On the OSU football team:
"They're a quick football team. The speed definitely picked up from our last game. We needed to adapt and adjust and we obviously didn't."
On playing a Division I opponent:
"It's like playing Iowa State last year. We just have to watch film, see where we made our mistakes. I think we're going to learn a lot as a team through this, whatever it may be. It will help our team come together."
