Head Coach Les Miles
On the starting quarterback against Louisiana Tech
"We are going to need two quarterbacks. We are going to refrain from making a public proclamation as to who is or who is not the starter and just kind of get to the end of the week and know that we are going to need both quarterbacks to win with and de-emphasize making any official naming."
On the health of the tailbacks
"I think we will have Seymore Shaw and Vernand Morency healthy in degrees. I don't know to what extent their health will be, but the concern that I have is in their preparation. I really have not had a full contact preparation for these guys."
On the fullback situation
"It looks like Mike Denard is getting better and Tim Burrough is there at fullback so we have what would appear to be two fullbacks. Then we have to find out which tailback is healthiest or which two would be healthiest with them doing the things that they do best. That would be how we go. "
On playing in Shreveport against La Tech
"Playing in their backyard is going to be different from playing in Lewis Field a year ago. They have a veteran quarterback that can move his feet. They also have a good running back and a senior laden team both offensively and defensively. We expect that it will be a competitive game and we will do everything we can to win."
On the issue of the role of underdog
"If we are favored by ten or underdog by ten, it doesn't make any difference, we are going in to win. We will play hard. We know that it's in their backyard, we know that they are good, we know that they have been WAC Champions, that they have been to bowl games, we understand that. We beat them last year and we intend to beat them this year."
Cowboy Player Terrence Robinson
On playing with intensity on defense
"We are trying to come out and play with a lot of intensity. I think that we have emphasized that as being important for us as a team to just come out and play with the intensity like we did at the end of last season. We need to carry that intensity over into this coming season."
On expectations of Louisiana Tech's offense
"I expect them to come out and test us. They will come at us with the run and pass. This is a good team with a balanced offense, even though they throw the ball sixty to seventy times a game. I expect them to run the ball a lot. They lost a starting running back, but they have a lot of talent. They are a good team and it will be a huge test for us.
On starting the year better than last year
"Last year started with a tough loss for us. Going into Southern Miss, especially when we practiced so hard and so well. Taking that loss helped us to grow together as a team and it helped us to face adversity. We know what it is like to experience adversity. We know how important it is for us to go out there and play well every game."
Cowboy player Jason Russell
On depth on the offensive line
"We have a lot of young guys who can assume these roles on the offensive line. We have got some good depth so that is not really a concern for us."
On Pogi and Fields difference in quarterback style
"They are completely different. Aso is more business, while Josh takes the attitude that this is fun and we need to go out and play the game. When he comes into the huddle, Aso is strictly business while Josh will crack a joke. Aso will come in and tell us what we need to get done."
On the excitement of the upcoming year
"I am very excited. I am tired of hitting our defense and I am tired of going against those guys. I am ready to hit somebody that I don't know."
